Offering cardiac surgery would expand the hospital’s current cardiac program and would provide the county’s large population of seniors with better access to this service. Currently, CMC patients are transported to Philadelphia and northern New Jersey hospitals for open-heart procedures.
New Jersey officials had rejected the hospital’s earlier request for cardiac surgery in 2004, a decision that was upheld by the appellate court.
