UMass Memorial Medical Center, Medical School Create Neurosurgery Department

University of Massachusetts Medical School and its clinical partner UMass Memorial Medical Center in Worcester have created an independent department of neurosurgery.

Neurological surgery was previously a specialty division within the department of surgery.

The new department will help the medical school and hospital recruit new faculty, enhance clinical care and education and promote research. The hospital and medical school also aim to re-establish the neurosurgery residency program, according to the release.
