The cancer center will add 2,500 square feet to accommodate a new $3 million radiosurgery machine. The equipment is designed to deliver higher doses of radiation to a more targeted area of the cancer, allowing physicians to treat patients faster. The project also includes adding two patient examination rooms and two physician offices.

The cancer center is adjacent to Maui Memorial Medical Center, which leased the space to allow for expansion.

Construction is expected to be completed in four to six months.
