US Acute Care Solutions launches The Central Line, Built with OutSystems

US Acute Care Solutions (USACS) recently replaced its legacy portal for physicians by building a new, modern portal with the low-code development platform from OutSystems.

Called The Central Line, a key feature of the new portal is the collaboration that it brings to the organization at a time of rapid consolidation within the industry.

"We wanted a way to iterate and deploy faster so that we could work with our systems of record," said David Peppard, CTO at USACS. "We knew that our legacy portal and the technologies we used to build it would not cut it in the fast-paced digital world. That's why we were so excited to work with OutSystems. Not only did OutSystems help us create a fantastic new portal, they also accelerated our time to market, saving us a considerable amount of money in the process."

USACS was able to build a new, collaborative portal in just five months, helping its physicians complete much of their work outside of the emergency room. The new portal is also helping to save the company over a million dollars per year as the organization rapidly expands through organic growth and acquisition.

"The work that USACS has done to develop The Central Line really stands out this year," said Paulo Rosado, CEO of OutSystems. "The collaborative new platform they have created is a testament to how effective low-code platforms can be in fueling digital transformation."

USACS was recently recognized with a 2016 OutSystems Innovation Award for the project, where it was honored with the Collaboration Award.

"OutSystems is a fantastic business partner," says Peppard. "In fact, it's the only platform we trust to rapidly develop and iterate code. OutSystems provides the governance, compliance and controls we need so that the apps we deploy are not only safe and secure, but also ready to withstand any audit."
