The program was implemented through a partnership between UVMC and Advanced ICU Care, a provider of high-acuity telehealth services. UVMC is Advanced ICU Care’s first hospital partner in Ohio, and UVMC is the first hospital in the Premier Health System to implement a tele-ICU program.
Through this partnership, UVMC will be able to connect ICU patients with a team of remote physicians, advanced practice providers and nurses from Advanced ICU Care’s eight care centers.
“A key benefit of the partnership is knowing that patients are being vigilantly monitored by experienced intensivists when their bedside physician is not present in the room with the patient,” said Jennifer Hauler, DO, chief medical officer of the Premier Health northern region. “This partnership will provide added support and expertise, aiming to ensure emerging issues can be dealt with as quickly as possible.”
