LGBTQ-focused telehealth company to offer virtual monkeypox care

LGBTQ-focused telehealth company Folx Health launched virtual monkeypox care options.

Folx users can now book an appointment with a clinician to discuss monkeypox and get referred to a monkeypox vaccination site if necessary. All Folx clinicians have been trained on monkeypox symptoms and counseling over the past month, according to an Aug. 24 Folx news release provided to Becker's.

"The LGBTQIA+ community has long struggled to access affirming and expert care and has a history of being unfairly blamed for the spread of viruses, as was the case during the beginning of the HIV/AIDS crisis. As monkeypox began to spread, we felt it was our duty and responsibility as a queer and trans healthcare provider to quickly mobilize and serve as a source of truth in a sea of misinformation," Folx CEO Liana Douillet Guzman said. "Health scares like this are one of the many reasons FOLX Health exists — as a safe space for queer and trans folx to receive education, counseling, evaluation, and referrals."
