Morgantown, W.Va.-based West Virginia Health System and Owens & Minor, a healthcare logistics company, have opened a distribution center near WVU Medicine’s flagship campus.
The distribution center has robotics and order fulfillment technology designed to improve supply chain efficiency, according to a news release from Owens & Minor shared with Becker’s.
Services at the center include custom surgical kitting, order fulfillment and product distribution. Owens & Minor expects to hire more than 100 workers by the end of 2025. The facility will support all 25 acute care hospitals in the WVU Medicine network.
The new hub was developed to address logistical challenges of delivering medical supplies across West Virginia, the release said.
