Wearable Medical Device Market to Reach $6B by 2019

The wearable medical device market is expected to reach $5.8 billion by 2019, growing at a compound annual growth rate of 16.4 percent, according to a Transparency Market Research report.

The report defines wearable medical devices as those that detect and monitor changes using sensors that attach to the body.  

Many trends in the medical device market surround aesthetics and ergonomics of wearable devices, according to the report, and over 65 percent of wearable medical devices are worn on the wrist and look like watches.

The report also mentions the potential prevalence of Google Glass in hospitals.
