The U.S. has opened a manufacturing facility in Dallas, N.C., to increase domestic production of pipette tip materials, which are widely used in diagnostics and life sciences.
The new facility will produce 1,210 tons of Carbon Black each month — a medical-grade compound found in pipette tips, which are used in disease testing, blood sample analysis and drug development, according to a June 10 news release from the Administration for Strategic Preparedness and Response, a division of HHS.
ASPR previously awarded $80 million to Premix Oy, a manufacturer, to support the opening of the facility. The move aligns with President Trump’s broader efforts to incentivize domestic manufacturing of drugs and medical supplies.
