The U.S. Food and Drug Administration has inspected Baxter’s Spain facility to ensure the product meets FDA standards.

Baxter’s Spain facility is the second international facility to import saline to help ease the shortage. In late May, Lake Zurich, Ill.-based Fresenius Kabi started distributing saline from its Norway manufacturing facility.

Healthcare professionals should directly contact Baxter to obtain the saline, the FDA reports.
