A former employee at Camden, N.J.-based Cooper University Hospital was charged with stealing about $2.5 million in medical supplies and selling them for profit.
Marci Staub was charged April 1 with second-degree theft, receiving stolen property, distribution of prescription legend drugs and impersonation of a representative of a medical organization following a six-month investigation, according to an April 6 news release from the Camden County Prosecutor’s Office.
The investigation began after the hospital reported missing Medtronic Infuse bone graft devices and other supplies, along with discrepancies between inventory and documented use.
Authorities said Ms. Staub was detained in December 2025 while attempting to leave work with medical supplies and was later terminated. Financial records showed she allegedly received more than $427,000 from sales to a wholesale medical supply company.
Prosecutors also said Ms. Staub allegedly impersonated a medical supply vendor to sell the stolen products.
