Masimo recently experienced a cyberattack that has affected manufacturing capacity at some of its facilities, the company said in a May 6 filing with the SEC.

Four notes:

1. On April 27, the company said it identified “unauthorized activity” within its on-premise network. “Upon detection, we activated our incident response protocols and implemented containment measures, including proactively isolating impacted systems,” Masimo said in the filing.

“We promptly commenced an investigation and are actively working to assess, mitigate and remediate the incident with the assistance of third-party cybersecurity professionals.”

2. Since the incident, some of Masimo’s manufacturing facilities have been operating at less than normal levels, disrupting its ability to process, fulfill and ship customer orders, according to the filing.

3. Law enforcement has been notified of the incident as the company continues its focus on bringing affected parts of its network back online and restoring normal operations. Masimo’s cloud-based systems do not appear to have been affected by the attack, though an investigation into the full scope of the incident is ongoing.

During a quarterly earnings call May 6, Masimo CEO Katie Szyman said the company does not anticipate the incident to affect financial performance.

4. Masimo manufactures a range of patient monitoring devices, including pulse oximeters, brain function monitors and remote patient monitoring platforms.
