Medical device company Cepheid to lay off 600+

Cepheid, a medical device and biotech company based in Sunnyvale, Calif., plans to lay off 686 workers by June 20, according to notices filed with the state.

The company, which makes PCR diagnostic tests, is set to lay off 350 employees working in Sunnyvale, 268 at locations in Newark, 61 at sites in Lodi, six in Fremont and one in Santa Clara.
