Franciscan Health Indianapolis has temporarily paused some elective surgeries due to a technology issue that disrupted the hospital’s supply of surgical equipment.
The hospital — which claims to be the “only full-service heart and vascular care program on the south side of Indianapolis,” according to its website — rescheduled certain elective surgical procedures, Fox News affiliate WXIN reported Sept. 4.
“The rescheduling became necessary due to temporary, technological issues that partially interrupted our full and timely supply of surgical equipment,” the hospital said in a statement. “A multi-disciplinary team from Franciscan Health, our equipment vendor and others are working diligently to resolve this issue so that we can return to our normal surgical schedule. We deeply regret the resultant inconvenience to patients and their families.”
WXIN reported Sept. 4. that the temporary pause has been in effect for nearly a month.
