Hospitals Running Low on IV Fluid

Hospitals are experiencing a shortage of intravenous fluid, specifically saline solution, due to an increased demand possibly spurred by the onset of the flu season.

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration is working with Deerfield, Ill.-based Baxter Healthcare, Evanston, Ill.-based B. Braun Medical and Lake Forest, Ill.-based Hospira to address the issue, according to the news release.
