To ensure the availability and security of APIs, the Commerce Department’s Bureau of Industry and Security will survey domestic API manufacturers, distributors, suppliers and customers in late 2024.
HHS’ Administration for Strategic Preparedness and Response, which requested the research, said in a July 16 news release that the study is unique.
The surveyors will assess “production capabilities, sourcing practices, customers, supply chain disruptions, human capital, capital equipment, and research and development,” according to a Bureau of Industry and Security news release.
Information about these vulnerabilities will inform future funding, the organizations said.
