FDA unveils new system for patient groups and providers to meet with agency on pharma topics

The FDA rolled out an updated system for members of the healthcare industry to meet with the agency about drug-related topics.

FDA Commissioner Scott Gottlieb, MD, highlighted the initiative via a tweet Friday. "Today #FDA launched new system to make it easier for patient advocacy groups, providers, and other non-industry stakeholders to request meetings with FDA on drug-related topics. These meetings are invaluable to our work to protect and promote public health," he tweeted.

The agency hopes improved access to meetings will help facilitate communication between the FDA and other healthcare stakeholders to improve drug development and safety.
