Devicemakers Siemens Healthineers and Cook Medical have entered into a partnership to develop fully equipped MRI rooms for hospitals, specifically for interventional procedures.
The partnership aims to combine real-time MRI imaging with specialized medical devices to help train clinical teams, according to a Sept. 13 news release from Cook Medical.
The new iMRI suites are intended to support minimally invasive procedures including in areas such as oncology, pediatrics and structural heart interventions. The suites include MRI scanners tailored for interventions, devices made to function in MRI settings and service support ranging from room planning to clinician training.
The approach aims to reduce radiation exposure for both patients and staff while improving precision during complicated procedures, the release said.
