The prescriptions will be offered through CVS Caremark, CVS Health’s benefits manager. Patients will be required to pay for prescriptions out-of-pocket, as Reduced Rx cannot be used with any prescription drug coverage.
One pharmaceutical company — Novo Nordisk — will participate in the program. Novo Nordisk will offer its prescription insulin for a cash payment of $25, reflecting a possible $100 in savings. CVS said it is looking to expand the program to additional medications.
Enrollment into the program will begin in May.
