The proposed relationship would combine strengths and strategy to better meet current and future challenges in healthcare while sharing culture, quality benchmarks and values. According to Gwen MacKenzie, Sarasota Memorial’s CEO, the relationship would be a strategic alliance and not a merger, consolidation or sale, according to the report.

Alliance discussions have just begun so no financial details of the arrangement have been finalized. It could be a few months before anything is formal, according to the report.
