Mayo Clinic Opens Center for Executive Health

Rochester, Minn.-based Mayo Clinic has opened its W. Hall Wendel Jr. Center for Executive Health, a program specifically designed for time-pressed business leaders.

The center is located in the Mayo Clinic Building in downtown Rochester and opened Oct. 7, but a ribbon-cutting even was held this week. It is designed to draw high-end patients who want all of their medical tests completed within a day or two.

The space includes facilities for international videoconferencing so patients can complete business tasks between their medical appointments, even though the appointments are typically back-to-back, making for a dense schedule. There is also an executive lounge similar to those VIP lounges found in airports. The center also includes concierge services.

Mayo Clinic President and CEO John Noseworthy, MD, said he expects the center to encompass the entire fifth floor of the Mayo Clinic Building by April 2014. Mayo's executive health program hosts 800 to 1,000 patient exams per month, according to a Post Bulletin report.
