UnitedHealth tops list of 25 most valuable healthcare brands in the world

UnitedHealthcare, the health insurance arm of UnitedHealth Group, has once again been named the most valuable healthcare brand in the world by Brand Finance, a business valuation and strategy consultancy.

Each year, Brand Finance uses a seven-step process to assess and rank the value of thousands of companies' brands from around the world. Brand Finance uses a variety of metrics, including marketing investment and business performance, to evaluate brands to determine their strength. UnitedHealthcare snagged the No. 1 spot on the list in 2018 and defended its title as the world's most valuable healthcare brand in 2019. The other major insurance companies in the U.S. — Anthem, Aetna, Humana and Cigna — were also named among the top 10 most valuable brands this year.

"The healthcare industry continues to be dominated by major U.S. brands, with only one company in the top 25 from Europe. Germany's Fresenius is ranked eighth, with a brand value of just under $7 billion," states the Brand Finance report.
