All 10 of the following medical schools had more than 1,000 students enrolled in the 2017-18 academic year. Large medical schools offer several perks, including a more diverse student body, more faculty members and a wider variety of research opportunities, according to U.S. News & World Report.

1. Lake Erie (Pa.) College of Osteopathic Medicine — 2,266 students

2. Edward Via College of Osteopathic Medicine (Blacksburg, Va.) — 1,853 students

3. Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis School of Medicine — 1,409 students

4. Western University of Health Sciences College of Osteopathic Medicine (Pomona, Calif.) — 1,349 students

5. University of Illinois College of Medicine (Chicago) — 1,222 students

6. Wayne State University School of Medicine (Detroit) — 1,200 students

7. Michigan State University College of Osteopathic Medicine (East Lansing) — 1,195 students

8. Sidney Kimmel Medical College at Thomas Jefferson University (Philadelphia) — 1,086 students

9. Touro College of Osteopathic Medicine (New York City) — 1,056 students
