Vermont is the healthiest state for older adults in 2025, according to a new report from the UnitedHealth Foundation.
The group published its 13th annual “America’s Health Rankings Senior Report” on May 6.
States were ranked using 55 measures across five categories of health: social and economic factors, physical environment, behaviors, clinical care and health outcomes.
In 2024, Vermont was ranked third, behind Utah and Colorado.
Nationwide, the early death rate decreased 9% between 2022 and 2023, and falls and obesity rates remained relatively stable. Suicide deaths increased by 5% and drug deaths increased by 58% between 2018 and 2020 and 2021 and 2023.
