To determine the nation’s most successful cities, Zippia used 2012-16 Census Bureau data to rank cities in each state based on median income, unemployment rate and the percent of residents older than 25 with a bachelor’s degree. The average of all three categories resulted in an individual index, and cities with the lowest score topped the list.

Here are the 10 most successful U.S. cities, based on the analysis:

1. Glencoe, Ill.

2. Floris, Va.

3. Ladue, Mo.

4. Bellaire, Texas

5. Chevy Chase, Md.

6. Palos Verdes Estates, Calif.

7. Mountain Brook, Ala.

8. Paradise Valley, Ariz.

9. The Village of Indian Hill, Ohio

10. Lawrence, N.Y.
