More than half of the community hospitals in Nevada and Texas are for-profit facilities, according to data compiled by KFF.
The data, current as of 2023, comes from the American Hospital Association’s annual survey. It reflects community hospitals, which make up 85% of all hospitals in the U.S., according to KFF.
Here are the nine states where at least one-third of hospitals are for-profit:
1. Nevada: 56.5%
2. Texas: 51.4%
3. Florida: 47.7%
4. Arizona: 43.7%
5. New Mexico: 42.9%
6. Louisiana: 40.9%
7. Delaware: 40%
8. Tennessee: 36.6%
9. Oklahoma: 36.3%
