WalletHub analyzed data on work opportunity, compensation and medical environment to determine the best states to work as a nurse or physician and used cost, outcomes and access to determine the best states for healthcare systems.
Of the top 10 states for healthcare systems, only six also made the list for either nurses or physicians, and only Minnesota was ranked for all three.
Three other notes:
- Maine was the only state besides Minnesota to be listed in the top 10 for nurses and healthcare systems.
- Physicians and healthcare rankings had top-10 overlap in Iowa, Utah, South Dakota and Idaho.
- Minnesota and Montana were the only states ranked in the top 10 for both nurses and physicians.
