Leapfrog and the American Diabetes Association recognized 37 hospitals for being leaders in caring for people living with diabetes.

This is the first national recognition program that honors hospitals for providing safe and high-quality care for people living with diabetes, according to the Leapfrog website. Recognized leaders in this field demonstrate measured adherence to national, evidence-based diabetes care guidelines for hospitals, provide safe, high-quality care, implement blood glucose testing and hypoglycemia protocols, specialized preparation for inpatient surgery, meals and insulin regimen planning, robust discharge planning for high-risk patients with diabetes, and more. Adult, general acute care and specialty hospitals that care for adult inpatients and have submitted a Leapfrog Hospital Survey are all eligible for the designation.
