11 states with the most employed physicians

There are 338,620 employed physicians and surgeons in the United States, according to data from the Bureau of Labor and Statistics collected in May 2016. The data includes physicians employed in a variety of organizations, not just hospitals and health systems.

3. Florida: 19,770
4. Texas: 18,860
5. Pennsylvania: 18,440
6. Ohio: 14,550
7. New Jersey: 13,670
8. Michigan: 13,520
9. Massachusetts: 11,270
10. North Carolina: 10,740
11. Maryland: 10,090
