10 states where labor markets are tightening most

The labor markets in 37 U.S. states are currently tighter than before the COVID-19 pandemic, according to a recent report from LinkedIn’s economic graph team.

The platform divided the number of active job postings in each state by the number of active applicants in a given month to formulate their labor tightness metric. 

Here are the 10 states with the greatest increase in tight labor market conditions when compared to pre-pandemic levels: 

1. Maine – 128.2 percent increase 

2. Alaska – 60.9 percent 

3. Kentucky – 54.5 percent 

4. South Dakota – 53.8 percent 

5. Wisconsin – 53.5 percent 

6. North Dakota – 52.2 percent 

7 (tie). Iowa – 50.1 percent 

7 (tie). Montana – 50.1 percent

9. Nebraska – 47 percent

10. Mississippi – 46.5 percent
