Location plays a large role in a person’s happiness, according to researchers at WalletHub.

WalletHub released its annual list of the happiest cities in the U.S. on March 11. For the list, researchers used the various findings of positive-psychology research to determine the happiest areas among the 180 largest U.S. cities. Researchers used 31 key indicators of happiness, including depression rate, income growth rate and average leisure time per day, among others.

The 10 happiest cities in the U.S.:

1. Plano, Texas
2. Irvine, Calif.
3. Madison, Wis.
4. Fremont, Calif.
5. Huntington Beach, Calif.
6. Fargo, N.D.
7. Grand Prairie, Texas
8. San Jose, Calif.
9. Scottsdale, Ariz.
10. San Francisco

The 10 least happy cities in the U.S.:

1. Detroit
2. Toledo, Ohio
3. Charleston, W.Va.
4. Birmingham, Ala.
5. Cleveland
6. Gulfport, Miss.
7. Little Rock, Ark.
8. Huntington, W.Va.
9. Newark, N.J.
10. Mobile, Ala.
