WalletHub developed the list by comparing all 50 states and Washington, D.C., across metrics focused on economic activity, economic health and innovation potential. All 28 metrics, including year-over-year change in GDP, unemployment rate and share of jobs in STEM fields, were graded on a 100-point scale.
