San Francisco ranks first among 148 U.S. cities on a health subindex, according to a WalletHub analysis published June 16. Columbus, Ga., ranks last.
The personal finance company ranked cities on a health score that is one of six subcategories within a broader “quality of city services” analysis. The health ranking draws on four metrics: infant mortality rate, average life expectancy, hospital beds per capita, and quality of public hospital system based on CMS ratings. Infant mortality and life expectancy carry four times the weight of the other two metrics.
