Yale New Haven Health adopts AI radiology platform

Yale New Haven (Conn.) Health System is deploying an AI-powered radiology reporting platform across its imaging network, which includes more than 16 outpatient imaging centers and five hospital campuses.

The health system selected Rad AI for the initiative, according to a June 10 news release. The organizations said the partnership aims to automate parts of the radiology reporting process, including documentation and other administrative tasks that can contribute to workflow inefficiencies.

Christopher Whitlow, MD, PhD, radiologist-in-chief for Yale New Haven Health System and chair of the Department of Radiology and Biomedical Imaging at Yale School of Medicine, said the health system sought a platform that could integrate with existing clinical and diagnostic systems while supporting future development efforts. The system’s network currently manages more than 700,000 annual radiology exams.

The organizations also said the collaboration will include joint clinical research initiatives and the co-development of AI tools tailored to the system’s needs.
