Orlando, Fla.-based Women’s Center for Radiology is notifying patients of a data breach after unauthorized access to a portion of its computer network exposed personal and protected health information.
The imaging provider said it discovered suspicious activity on April 29 and determined an unauthorized party accessed a limited subset of its network between April 26 and April 28, according to a June 26 notice. During that time, certain files were accessed or downloaded without authorization.
The information involved varies by individual and may include names, addresses, dates of birth, contact information, diagnoses, lab results, treating or referring physicians, medical record numbers, health insurance information and driver’s license numbers provided during patient intake.
Women’s Center for Radiology said it notified federal law enforcement and applicable regulatory agencies, secured the affected systems and is reviewing its security policies and procedures to reduce the likelihood of a similar incident. The organization is also offering potentially affected individuals credit monitoring and identity protection services.
