Virginia health system opens interventional radiology clinic

Fredericksburg, Va.-based Mary Washington Healthcare has opened the Mary Washington Interventional Radiology Outpatient Clinic on the Stafford Hospital campus and hired its first interventional radiologist.

The outpatient clinic provides evaluation, consultation and treatment for a range of conditions using imaging guidance, according to a Sept. 30 news release. The clinic uses X-ray, ultrasound, MRI and CT to support minimally invasive procedures. Services include uterine fibroid embolization, angioplasty and stent placement, tumor ablation, vertebroplasty and kyphoplasty, image-guided biopsies, PICC line and port placement and prostate artery embolization.

The clinic also treats conditions including peripheral artery disease, deep vein thrombosis, liver and kidney tumors, compression fractures, benign prostatic hyperplasia and dialysis access issues.
