Pittsburgh-based UPMC and the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine have named Maureen Kohi, MD, chair of the Department of Radiology, effective Oct. 12.
Dr. Kohi joins Pitt and UPMC from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where she serves as Ernest H. Wood Distinguished Professor and chair of the Department of Radiology, as well as system executive medical director of enterprise imaging and clinical transformation executive for UNC Health, according to a July 16 news release.
At UNC, Dr. Kohi oversaw growth in clinical care, research, education and enterprise imaging. The health system said the department expanded its clinical footprint and imaging services, increased faculty and revenue, and more than doubled extramural research funding. She also co-founded the Consortium for Innovative Imaging and Interventions, a multidisciplinary initiative focused on imaging, artificial intelligence engineering and image-guided therapies.
Before joining UNC, Dr. Kohi served as chief of interventional radiology at the University of California, San Francisco. She joins Pitt and UPMC with a background in interventional radiology, imaging research and enterprise imaging strategy.
