Memphis, Tenn.-based St. Jude Children's has appointed Elizabeth Hillman, PhD, as founding chair of the hospital's newly launched Department of Imaging Sciences.
Dr. Hillman previously served as a professor in biomedical engineering and radiology departments at New York City-based Columbia University's Herbert and as the Florence Irving Professor at Columbia's Zuckerman Institute, according to a Jan. 22 news release from the hospital.
The department will recruit faculty to develop new imaging tools and techniques that "accelerate scientific discovery and improve the understanding and diagnosis of catastrophic childhood diseases," the release said.
