Phoenix Children’s names radiology chief

Phoenix Children’s has named Carolina Guimaraes, MD, vice president and chief of radiology, effective in December. Dr. Guimaraes will lead the continued growth and advancement of the hospital’s radiology department.

Dr. Guimaraes will join Phoenix Children’s from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where she serves as professor of radiology and pediatrics, division chief of pediatric radiology and vice chair of operations for the radiology department, according to an Aug. 19 news release.

During her five years at UNC, Dr. Guimaraes expanded the division’s faculty and clinical capabilities, broadened pediatric subspecialty imaging services and established its pediatric radiology fellowship program.
