Bethlehem, Pa.-based St. Luke’s University Health Network said its radiology AI platform freed up capacity equal to about 1.3 full-time employees as the health system expands cloud-based reporting and workflow tools.
The 16-campus health system, which serves communities across Northeast Pennsylvania and Western New Jersey, adopted Microsoft’s PowerScribe One to support radiology reporting and integrate AI tools into clinical workflows, according to a May 7 Microsoft news release.
One of the first AI-enabled features deployed was Smart Impression, which uses generative AI to draft report impressions directly within the reporting workflow. Robert Fournier, MD, chair of radiology at St. Luke’s, said in the release the tool was widely adopted by radiologists and helped improve reporting consistency and efficiency.
The health system also began deploying Dragon Copilot to radiologists and plans to expand the platform to additional members of the care team, according to the release.
