Rapides Regional Medical Center in Alexandria, La., held a ribbon-cutting March 13 for a new $3 million interventional radiology suite, described as the most advanced in a hospital in central Louisiana.
The suite allows for real-time imaging during procedures, enabling interventional radiologists to offer targeted oncology, vascular and musculoskeletal treatments, according to a March 13 news release. Physicians can perform CT scans while the patient is on the table, supporting high-precision techniques including direct tumor injections.
Other procedures available in the suite include biopsies, fluid management, vascular access, cryoablation and embolization therapies. The facility is designed to reduce radiation exposure and improve recovery times through faster, minimally invasive interventions.
