Edison, N.J.-based Hackensack Meridian Health has become the first hospital network in the Northeast U.S. to administer Pixclara, an FDA-approved PET imaging drug used to help assess brain cancer.
The health system is offering Pixclara at Hoboken, N.J.-based Hackensack Meridian Hoboken Imaging Services, according to an Oct. 30 news release. The imaging drug is indicated, in conjunction with other diagnostic evaluations, to help physicians differentiate recurrent or progressive glioma from treatment-related changes.
Pixclara can be used in adults and pediatric patients ages 1 month and older. Clinical data showed that combining Pixclara PET imaging with conventional MRI yielded 41% higher diagnostic accuracy than MRI alone.
