American College of Radiology to establish AI accreditation program

The American College of Radiology will establish a new AI accreditation program to ensure quality management in radiology practices, according to a statement published March 7 in the Journal of the American College of Radiology

The organization has established the ACR Recognized Center for Healthcare-AI program as a precursor to accreditation. Insights gained from the ARCH-AI program will be used to develop the college’s formal accreditation program, the statement said. 

The official AI accreditation program is expected to earn ACR Council approval in spring 2027.
