Pittsburgh-based Allegheny Health Network has added weekly MRI services at Westfield (N.Y.) Memorial Hospital through a new mobile imaging unit.
The hospital held a ribbon-cutting ceremony to launch the program, which will offer MRI scans every Tuesday and Saturday, according to a Jan. 21 news release. The mobile unit is stationed on a platform next to the hospital’s ambulance entrance and connects directly to the facility with a sealed entryway for patient and staff protection.
The FDA cleared the mobile system in late 2023 to expand access to advanced, AI-powered MRI technology in rural and space-limited areas. Features include accelerated scan technology and personalized imaging capabilities.
Allegheny Health Network invested more than $1 million to bring the MRI service to the hospital. Westfield Memorial was recently designated as a Rural Emergency Hospital, a status system leaders say is already yielding benefits for the surrounding community.
MRI scans at the site are scheduled to begin this week.
