“We fully embrace price transparency,” wrote Douglas Leonard, president of the Indiana Hospital Association. “Our members welcome the opportunity to help patients better understand the costs associated with the round-the-clock care they need, the quality of our care, as well as the value all patients receive when seeking treatments — no matter how severe their situation.”
The IHA’s op-ed is part of the growing price transparency movement. Hospital prices were a major part of a TIME investigative report in February. Following that report, CMS released price data of the most common inpatient and outpatient procedures.
