The health departments of La Crosse and Trempleau, Wis., counties, were informed that a patient with a confirmed case of measles visited several hotels and businesses, including a retail store and restaurants.
The Wisconsin report follows an announcement from New York health officials, who issued a warning April 22 about possible measles exposures across New York, New Jersey and Connecticut.
Health officials are requesting people experiencing potential measles symptoms, including high fever, cough and rash, to call ahead to a healthcare facility before arriving to limit possible exposure.
“If someone has been potentially exposed and has signs consistent with measles, it is important they stay isolated from others to keep from spreading it,” said La Crosse County Health Department Director, Jennifer Rombalski, RN, in a press release, according to KMSP.
