Non-emergency procedures have been suspended in the main operating room since Jan. 30, when staff members found granular particles on a number of sterile trays. None of the trays in question were used in operations.
The hospital installed additional water filtration in an effort to stop the granular substance from forming. New water filters were also delivered to the hospital on Monday for installation.
Cabell Huntington Hospital staff will test and examine all trays to make sure the sediment is cleared. Hospital officials said there was no timeline set for when elective surgeries will resume.
