The Joint Commission selects Dr. Raji Thomas as patient safety office director

The Joint Commission appointed Raji Thomas, DNP, director of the Office of Quality and Patient Safety.

In her new role, Dr. Thomas will oversee the Office of Quality and Patient Safety, which reviews and responds to patient safety event reports at accredited healthcare facilities.

Previously, she served as director of patient safety and performance improvement at Rush University Medical Center in Chicago. She also was senior RN patient safety consultant at Advocate Health Care in Downers Grove, Ill., and a quality improvement specialist at Barnes Jewish Hospital at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis.

Dr. Thomas holds a doctor of nursing practice degree from Loyola University Chicago.
