The survey includes responses from roughly 1,000 U.S. consumers aged 18 years and older. Seventy-three percent of respondents said they are concerned about medical errors, with 45 percent being “very concerned.”

Thirty percent of respondents said they or a family member or friend experienced a medical mistake, defined as receiving the wrong medication, dosage or treatment. In addition, more than 20 percent of respondents said they have been misdiagnosed by their physician.

The responses regarding technology indicate high consumer confidence in technology’s ability to reduce these errors, according to the report.
