Study participants were healthy individuals 70 years of age and older who had the ability to walk at least 70 feet unassisted. After being given 10 milligrams of methylphenidate, participants were monitored during separate and simultaneous cognitive and motor tests.
After study participants were administered the drug, they experienced decreases in the number and rate of step errors while walking and while walking with divided attention.
